  • Launched, 24 October 1953
  • Acquired by the Navy 29 March 1956
  • Commissioned USS Compass Island (E-AG-153), 3 December 1956, CDR. J. A. Dare in command
  • Decommissioned, 1 May 1980
  • Transferred to MARAD for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, James River, Fort Eustis, VA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 1 October 1981
  • Permanent title transfer to MARAD, 9 April 1993
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping to Able UK, Hartlepool, Teeside, England, and removed from the Reserve Fleet, 16 October 2003 under tow to the United Kingdom
